An alloy of copper that contains nickel and manganese and iron (manganese and iron are the strengthening elements), is known as Copper Nickel. It is also called CuNi tube or Cupronickel tube. Copper Nickel is silver in color, in spite of the fact that it has a high content of copper. Due to its excellent fabricability, low macrofouling rates and seawater resistance, Copper Nickel is used in various types of marine applications. Copper Nickel tube offers total resistance to any kind of marine life forms such as barnacles and the like and as such, it is used very commonly all over the world, in seawater piping systems.
Copper Nickel is also highly resistant to organic compounds, diluted non-oxidizing acids, salts and brine water. A few very typical applications of Copper Nickel 90/10 Tube are underwater tubing, marine hardware, exchangers and desalination. Due to its highly distinct properties, Copper Nickel is used for various purposes such as the manufacture of arms, electrical industries, desalination materials, petrochemical industries, chemical industries, marine engineering and even in the minting of medals and coins. Copper Nickel is also used in desalination plants and sea water condenser systems. Because it is seawater corrosion resistant and also because of its biofouling resistance capabilities, Copper Nickel Condenser Tube is used in sea water intake screens, oil rig platform legs and cladding for the hulls of ships. Also, because of its resistance to seawater, Copper Nickel is used in crankshafts and propellers, as well for the hulls of fishing boats, premium tugboats and various other types of boats.
