Wrought Alloys Beryllium copper (BeCu), also known as copper beryllium (CuBe), beryllium bronze and spring copper, is a copper alloy with 0.5-3% beryllium and sometimes other elements. Beryllium copper combines high strength with non-magnetic and non-sparking qualities. It has excellent metalworking, forming and machining properties. It has many specialized applications in tools for hazardous environments, musical instruments, precision measurement devices, bullets, and aerospace. Beryllium alloys present a toxic inhalation hazard during manufacture.  In extreme cases, when the spring properties are critical even at high temperatures, nickel-beryllium is used as the solution of choice.

Steel Emporium is the leading suppliers, manufacturers and exporters of high quality beryllium copper products in various forms.

Available forms are beryllium copper welding rod, beryllium copper wire, beryllium copper bar, beryllium copper bushings, beryllium copper coil, beryllium copper drill bits, beryllium copper electrodes, beryllium copper flat bar, beryllium copper fasteners, beryllium copper gasket, beryllium copper ingot, beryllium copper nuts, beryllium copper round bar, beryllium copper sheet

Useful information about Beryllium Copper

PROTHERM COPPER BERYLLIUM

Alloy Description: Copper Beryllium (0.3%)
UK: Protherm
EU: Protherm

Wrought Alloys -Copper- Beryllium (PH) Alloys which gets its strength from “Precipitation Heat Treating”. Protherm Beryllium Copper grade of material has a very high Yield Strength to Conductivity ratio and is good for moderate stress applications where galling is a concern. Mainly in Mold tooling applications including; cavity and core inserts, hot runner nozzles and gates.

BERYLLIUM COPPER VS. REGULAR COPPER

Both copper and beryllium copper are known for their electrical and thermal conductivity. Copper's electrical conductivity is 100%, and BeCu's ranges anywhere from 15-30%. While BeCu's conductivity is significantly lower than copper alloy.

Beryllium copper, also known as spring copper or beryllium bronze. The first of the two families, C17200 and C17300, includes high strength with moderate conductivity, while the second family, C17500 and C17510, offers high conductivity with moderate strength.

Most often, copper is used in applications and products where appearance is important and Beryllium copper and its variety of alloys are used in tailor-made applications such as oilfield tools, aerospace landing gears, robotic welding, and mold making applications.

HIGH HARD & LOW HARD COPPER BERYLLIUM SUPPLIERS

Alloy Description: Copper Beryllium (1.8%)
UK: High Hard / Low Hard CuBe Mold Alloy

High Hard, or Low hard are both copper- beryllium alloys.  These Copper- Beryllium (PH) Alloys get their strength from “Precipitation Heat Treating”. This grade of beryllium copper material has a very high hardness to conductivity ratio and is good for high-stress applications where erosion is a concern. Applications for high hard low-hard are mainly in Mold tooling including; cavity and core inserts, sprew sections and gates.

What are the different grades of copper beryllium?
